Fern Ellen Lloyd

1928 – 2024

 

With heavy hearts our family is sad to announce the loss of our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Fern Ellen Lloyd on February 25, 2024 at 96 years of age.  Mom was born in Prince Albert, SK on January 8, 1928.  She graduated from the Holy Family School of Nursing and worked in hospitals in Prince Albert and Vancouver.  In later years she worked for the VON and loved volunteering for many organizations.  One organization that was close to Mom’s heart was CanSurmount, which provided support, comfort, and encouragement to those suffering from cancer.  Most important to Mom were her three children and their families: Brenda (Tom) Brothwell and their children Heather (Derek) Rhodes and their children Harper and Madelyne, Kim (Sean) Briegel and their children Owen and Nolan, Shannon (Brody) Bautz and great grandson Finley, and Lindsay (Raymond) Kenney; Don (Vivian) Lloyd and their children Joel (Ashley) and their children Maya and Hudson, Shawn (Andrea), Travis and great grandson Jaxon; the late Jan (Glen) Lloyd-Vossen and their children Meghan (Chris) Vossen-Anweiler and their children Cole and Evie, Michael and Daniel.  Fern is also survived by numerous relatives and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents, Don and Therese Fowlie; her husband, John B. (Jack) Lloyd; and daughter, Jan Lloyd-Vossen.  As per Mom’s wishes, there will be a private family funeral.  A gathering of Mom’s friends will take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at St Joseph Parish downstairs hall, 260 25th Street East, Prince Albert, for those who wish to attend.  In lieu of flowers, Mom asked that donations be made to the Rose Garden Hospice, 500 - 38th Street West Prince Albert SK, S6W 0A3.  Our family would like to thank Pat Chuey and the staff at Good Shepherd Villas for their care and kindness during Mom’s time there.
